The first step is often the hardest step.
The Transition Forward Project is about organizations taking the first step—or the next step—in developing guidance to support the gender expression of all employees, specifically those that are transgender, non-binary, gender non-conforming and those who decide to transition in the workplace. We’re advocates for nurturing company cultures that make employees feel comfortable bringing their best selves to work.
Data validates this: Diverse companies are 21% more likely to achieve above-average profits and companies with more culturally and ethnically diverse executive teams are 33% more likely to achieve better-than-average profits.
Here’s more data:
- 30% of transgender people reported being fired, denied a promotion or experienced mistreatment in the workplace in the past 12 months.
- 31% of transgender people experienced mistreatment in a public place in the past 12 months.
How can we improve this?
Take the first step—register for our Transition Policy Workshop at 6 p.m. on Monday, October 14 at the Dwolla offices in downtown Des Moines.
By bringing together subject matter experts, we can work with members of the Midwest business community to create inclusive policies and resources that we all benefit from.
Attendees will leave the Transition Policy Workshop with more than a blank document, but a roadmap to a useful, impactful inclusion policy. Whether you’re starting from scratch or looking for feedback on existing policies, this is a time for collaboration.
Together we can share what’s working and get actionable advice on areas of opportunity. The more voices at the table, the more valuable this workshop becomes.
