After partnership between GROUNDFLOOR and Dwolla, Inc., accredited & non-accredited investors can diversify portfolios more seamlessly
GROUNDFLOOR, a crowdsourced real estate investing and lending platform that’s open to everyone, has announced a partnership with Dwolla, Inc. to make payments more efficient for borrowers and investors. GROUNDFLOOR allows accredited and non-accredited investors alike to participate directly in real estate loans, on a fractional basis. Investors fund their GROUNDFLOOR Investment Account, then choose from pre-vetted real estate projects in which to invest. Dwolla’s white label platform helps GROUNDFLOOR users initiate the transfer of money to their GROUNDFLOOR account. Returns can vary between 5% and 26%.
To enable payment functionality, GROUNDFLOOR integrated Dwolla’s ACH API to power payments and enable instant bank account verification and next day payments for its end users.
“It’s always risky changing the engine in flight,” says GROUNDFLOOR CTO Chris Schmitt. “The aspect of going live with a new payments partner was where Dwolla really shined. Dwolla helped us convert from our old provider, it was seamless.”
The partnership allows GROUNDFLOOR to make the payment experience more seamless for its users, allowing people to start investing faster. The technology is also powering GROUNDFLOOR’s 2019 Stock Offering, where any account holder can invest into the fintech company directly by purchasing shares of stock.
“We can—in real time—authenticate a bank account and get our customers up and running in minutes,” Schmitt says.
Dwolla, Inc. is a financial technology company that offers businesses an onramp to the Automated Clearing House Network, the electronic funds-transfer system used by U.S. financial institutions that moves $43 trillion annually.
With Dwolla powering its payments, GROUNDFLOOR can steadily build its user base from the ground up.
Founded in 2013 by Brian Dally and Nick Bhargava, GROUNDFLOOR opens private capital markets to a broader base of both investors and real estate entrepreneurs. GROUNDFLOOR was the first company qualified by the United States Securities & Exchange Commission to offer direct real estate debt investments via Regulation A for non-accredited and accredited investors alike. Today, it remains the only product offering a customizable real estate debt portfolio for short-term, high-yield returns. For real estate entrepreneurs, GROUNDFLOOR currently serves the residential fix-and-flip market, offering borrower friendly loan terms, like a deferred payment option, to give developers more control over their cash flow. While any resident of the United States can invest via GROUNDFLOOR’s platform, the company is focusing its lending operations in 26 states.
