Anderson is a longstanding payments executive bringing experience leading product and business initiatives in both consumer and commercial payments.

Dwolla, a fintech powering innovation with sophisticated account-to-account payment solutions, today announces its plan to add James Anderson to the company’s board of directors. Anderson previously served as the Executive Vice President of Commercial and B2B Solutions at Mastercard where he was responsible for all of Mastercard’s products and programs targeted at business users.

With more than 14 years of payments industry experience leading projects from conception to completion, Anderson will help Dwolla navigate the technical and business challenges intrinsic to driving market disrupting product launches.

“I’ve always seen payments as a space that benefits from great technology, combined with deep customer engagement, two capabilities that I see Dwolla embodies,” Anderson says. “Dwolla has solved many of the foundational problems of A2A payments, making it easier for fintechs and disrupters to engage with account rails. I’m excited to be a part of what Dwolla does next.”

As Executive Vice President of Commercial and B2B Solutions at Mastercard, Anderson was responsible for major initiatives that spanned both card and account-to-account payments rails such as virtual card solutions for accounts payables and Track Business Payment Service, a new B2B network that was explicitly multi-rail by design using both card and account-to-account rails to move money. Prior to that role, Anderson served as Executive Vice President of Digital Payment Products at Mastercard, leading major initiatives such as the conception and build-out of Mastercard Digital Enablement Service (MDES). Anderson is known for utilizing his disciplined creativity to find efficient and effective solutions for building products and teams.

“We’re thrilled to have James join Dwolla’s board to tap his expertise in developing outstanding products,” says Brady Harris, CEO of Dwolla. “His input and years of experience in the payments industry will impact the ability of our team to collectively make the best decisions for the most optimal outcomes. I expect his impact to be felt across all aspects of Dwolla’s business, from our internal teams to customers, partners and investors. Our product got better today because we added James Anderson to our team.”

This announcement follows Dwolla’s recent Hedge Pay partnership and comes on the heels of Dwolla’s monumental 2021 that included a $21 million fundraise to support product expansions and the launch of Real-Time Payments.
