The ACH payments provider was named FinTech and InsurTech Company of the Year as well as Technology Company of the Year – Small/Medium

Dwolla, Inc. was presented with two awards at the Technology Association of Iowa’s 14th annual Prometheus Awards. The awards, held on Thursday, April 11, recognize innovative companies and individuals impacting Iowa’s $11 billion technology industry which employs more than 88,000 workers. From a record number of submissions and in front of a full house at the Community Choice Credit Union Convention Center in Des Moines, Dwolla received both FinTech and InsurTech Company of the Year as well as Technology Company of the Year – Small/Medium.

The 2019 Prometheus Awards recognized technology companies in categories ranging from manufacturing to BioTech and the awards recognize organizations from all over the state.

“We’re humbled to receive recognition like this. We’re very grateful for the way the community props us up and supports us.” said Ben Milne, founder and CEO at Dwolla. “It’s wonderful to see Iowa succeed as a technology space as our products are being delivered in the market. Makusafe [nominated for Startup Technology of the Year] is making manufacturing safer throughout the country, Samantha and the team at NewBoCo [nominated for Software Development Technology Company of the Year] are changing the landscape in the creative corridor, and Performance Livestock Analytics [winner of Software Development Technology Company of the Year] is changing the way we feed the world. The innovations and the number of people touched by it, is a wonderful thing to watch unfold and be a part of.”

“It was an inspiring evening,” said Stephanie Atkin, Vice President of Marketing at Dwolla, who accepted both awards on the company’s behalf. “To look around the room at all the different companies making Iowa a tech contributor is amazing. The Prometheus Awards are in line with what we want to do with our Monetery conference, which is about growing an inclusive tech ecosystem in this region. Awards like these and organizations like TAI show it can be done.”

Dwolla’s two awards were the most of any company and come quickly on the heels of the national FinTech Breakthrough Awards, which honored Dwolla as the Best B2B Payments Product on April 3. The company has also been named a finalist for the NACHA Excellence in Payments Award, to be presented on May 7, 2019 in Orlando, Florida.
