In March of this year we introduced and hosted Monetery, an event dedicated to connecting those who believe in creating value in the Midwest. I guess you could call Monetery 2018 our Minimum Viable Product. More than 250 people attended and what we found was that there was an overwhelming demand for this type of event. We proved there was Product Market Fit.
As Dwolla continues to grow our team and our presence in Des Moines, building a strong tech ecosystem in the Midwest is at the heart of every conversation we have. In our conversations with community builders, the most frequently asked question is, “Are you doing another Monetery?” followed quickly by, “When?!”
We are committed to bringing visibility about what the Midwest has to offer. We believe that you can build a successful tech company while living your values and investing in your community.
We are going all-in. And this time, we aren’t doing it alone. We have the full support of the Midwest’s largest community leaders. We extend our sincere appreciation to our Founding Sponsors, who have partnered with Dwolla as we continue to drive the Midwest Tech Ecosystem forward.

What to Expect
In the book Startup Communities by Brad Feld, entrepreneurs, government, universities, investors, mentors, service providers and large companies are outlined as key contributors to growing a healthy startup ecosystem. We are thrilled to bring representatives from each of these groups to speak at next years event.
Monetery 2019 will be packed with value and crafted with actionable advice to help launch and grow a tech company. Diversity and inclusion, a give-first mentality and living your values will continue to be common threads woven throughout the summit.
Linking Our Words with Action
At Monetery 2018, Dwolla raised more than $10,000 for Pi515, an after-school program that educates Iowa’s underserved population, mainly refugee 7-12th grade students, on basic computer coding. We want to continue to link our words with action and live our values. In 2019, Monetery will continue to be a funding engine for underrepresented groups in technology.

Together, we can build a tech ecosystem in the Midwest and take advantage of our innovative, supportive and collaborative spirit. That’s what Monetery is for.
